Yoga mat?
I’m looking to buy a yoga mat for less than $40. Amazon seems to have a few deals today but the ones in the under-$20 range were all reviewed as being too slippery. Anyone have a recommendation for something affordable (not spending $80 on a mat, sorry) that is a little stickier for someone who tends to slide around in down dog?
I have an Aurorae mat ($35 from Amazon). I’ve been pretty happy with it, though after a year it’s starting to show a little wear at the bottom because I prefer Ashtanga and vinyasa yoga, and I’m often pivoting my feet in the same spot over and over. That said, it’s worn but not flaking, it’s thick but stable, and I will probably still use it for another 6 months-year. 1.5-2 years for a $35 mat that gets lots of abuse is pretty worth it to me. And it came in black. :)

Do you have a TJ Maxx near you?!?!! Their athletic equipment is so cheap!

Why don’t you check out Ross Dress for Less? They usually have good yoga mats for under $10.

This isn’t a suggestion for a mat - but I bought this super absorbent towel that sits on top of my mat to help my hands out while I’m in downdog and I love it!

Have you tried yoga gloves? Those help me with slipping (sometimes haha)

This is what I have, amazon.com/dp/B000… . I don’t have much issue with slipping in down dog even though my hands get sweaty. You can always take a hand towel with you and lay it at the end of your mat, too.
